About department
Economic statistics has been growing as a separate subject at the Department of Statistics since 1952. The greatest credit for this could be ascribed at first to Assoc. prof. Josef Kašpar and later also to prof. Jaroslav Jílek and prof. Milan Matějka.
A separate Department of Economic Statistics arose during the reorganization of the University of Economics in 1990. The first head of Dept. was an associate professor Eduard Souček. Professor Jan Seger came as his successor, and later became the President of the University of Economics and the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics.
In the years 2008-2018 associate professor Jakub Fischer, currently the dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics, led the Department. Since March 2018 lecturer Petr Mazouch has been leading the Department as head.
